Our Story

At We Were Soldiers Creations, we believe in the power of transformation - whether it’s freshening up your home, crafting something beautiful from nature, or turning life’s challenges into something positive.

Our journey began in 2017 with We Were Soldiers Cleaning Company, a unique approach to deep cleaning. But when COVID-19 hit in 2020, everything changed. Unable to visit homes, we had to adapt. Instead of cleaning, we created a candle that eliminated odours and left homes smelling fresh - just like the products we once used. Within 10 minutes, it could erase the strongest smells - fish, curry, pets, even stubborn odours like smoke or damp. Our customers loved them, and so a new venture was born.

Since then, we have perfected our Scentique Wax Melts, designed to neutralise odours fast while filling your home with a long lasting, clean, and refreshing scent. And as life took us to the coast, we found inspiration in nature, using driftwood and shells to create handcrafted, bespoke home décor that captures the beauty of the sea.

But We Were Soldiers Creations is more than just products.

As an ex-military veteran (Royal Engineers), I faced my own battles with PTSD after leaving the forces due to injury. Anger, frustration and struggle defined many of my early years. But through craftsmanship - wax melts, woodworking and artisanal design - I found peace, purpose and therapy. Every item we create is a reflection of that journey… resilience, creativity and transformation.

That same journey eventually inspired me to write my first book:

Written from real life experience, the book focuses on mindset, personal growth, overcoming adversity and learning how to regain control of your life by changing the way you think. It’s honest, relatable and written for real people dealing with real struggles.

I often describe it as a “Swiss Army Knife for the mind” - not a book you simply read once and put away, but one you can return to whenever life feels overwhelming. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, motivation, confidence, relationships, purpose or direction, you can open a chapter based on how you feel in that moment and hopefully walk away with a completely different perspective.
